Melody, your timely and thoughtful perspective on the way leadership has changed but leadership development have stagnated is exactly right!

In my day job, I teach leadership to military officers, and we see the exact same thing all the time: by and large, we still teach leadership development like we did in the 80s and 90s, only with a greater emphasis on technology, but the essence of what we teach has remained unchanged: management, in other words. I think, for my next group of students, I’m going to assign this article as homework! Should get some interesting discussions going…
