Yet Another CEO Gets “Indefinite Leave Of Absence” Instead of Being Fired

And the reason why is just stupid

If you’ve been following the news the last couple weeks, you’ve probably heard the name Vishal Garg. If you haven’t been following the news, here’s a quick recap:

Vishal Garg is currently the CEO of online mortgage broker Better.com. Last week, he hosted a Zoom call with 900 of his employees, during which he let them know, in no uncertain terms, that their employment was terminated.

Several of those (former) employees, no doubt feeling none too favorably toward Mr. Garg, took it upon themselves to post video and a transcript of that Zoom call to the internet, where it has since gone totally viral. Broad consensus across social media as to the method by which Garg ended the employment of nearly a thousand people without a seconds thought can best be summed up as:

Dick move, bro.

Today, the board of directors of Better.com, who apparently like their jobs too, announced that they had voted to place Vishal Garg on “an indefinite leave of absence” from his position as CEO. While the details have yet to be worked out, I would imagine that in a few days, Mr Garg will announce that he has decided (all by himself) to step down as CEO of Better.com.
