The Problem Starts With You

Amazon currently lists more than 30,000 books on the topic of leadership. Each one of those books presents one author’s viewpoint on some essential facet of becoming a better leader. Each book also has a slightly different perspective on the qualities and abilities that make someone a great leader.

The fact is that you can read each and every one of those 30,000 books and still miss the mark of true leadership. Sure, each book would probably help you in some way, or supply a missing piece of the puzzle, but none of them are ever going to be a one-stop shop.

In fact, most of them probably aren’t even addressing what, for most of us, is the root of what makes us good, or bad, leaders in the first place.

At the heart of leadership, you’ve got to become a better person to become a better leader. Embracing your own humanity, flaws and failures, is the first, and most important task for you as a leader.
